Encounters with Jesus: Summer Sermon Series

The people who met Jesus Christ in person faced many of the same big life questions we wrestle with today. Questions about purpose, belonging, forgiveness, and hope weren’t any easier then than they are now. Like most of us, they often found that the answers they had been given—or tried to piece together on their own—didn’t quite hold up in the reality of everyday life. But when they met Jesus, something changed.

Again and again in the Gospels, we see ordinary people having extraordinary encounters with him. A skeptical disciple, a curious outsider, a grieving friend, a person weighed down by guilt or shame—each one comes with their own story, their own doubts, and their own need. And in each encounter, Jesus meets them right where they are. He doesn’t offer distant advice or abstract ideas. He speaks, he listens, he challenges, and he restores.

It quickly becomes clear that Jesus doesn’t just have answers—he is the answer.

In this summer sermon series starting June 7, we’ll step into these moments together. We’ll walk alongside those who met Jesus face-to-face and see how those encounters reshaped their lives. And as we do, we’ll begin to recognize something important: their stories are not so different from our own. Because the same Jesus who met them still meets us.

Wherever you find yourself this summer—full of faith or full of questions, steady or searching—you are invited into these encounters. Come and see how the central events and personal moments in Jesus’ life continue to speak into our lives today, offering grace, truth, and a hope that truly changes everything.
