Youth Music Opportunities
Cherub Choir (grades K-2nd)
The Cherub Choir is open to children in kindergarten through third grade. The group practices Wednesdays from 5:45-6:15 p.m. in Room #201 and sings at worship according to the schedule worked out by the Director of Worship and Music.
Carol Choir (grades 3rd-5th)
The Carol Choir is open to children in the fourth through sixth grades. The group practices Wednesdays from 6:15-6:45 p.m. in Room #201 and sings at worship as designated on the schedule produced by the Coordinator of Worship and Music.
New Light Choir (grade 6-12)
The New Light Choir is open to 7-12 grade students. The choir rehearses on Wednesdays from 5:30-6:00 p.m., sings at one service per month and performs for one major event each year.
The Confirmation worship band is open to all 7-12th graders. This group plays for a short time during Confirmation classes. The group rehearses from 6:15-6:45 PM on Wednesdays before Confirmation.
Contemporary Worship Band
The Contemporary worship band is open to all 7th grade and older. Teams lead worship at the 11:15 AM Contemporary Worship Service at 11:15 AM. If you play a musical instrument or would like to sing in one of these groups, contact our Contemporary Worship Leader (218-790-2790). Rehearsals are usually held on Thursday evenings.

Youth Education
Sunday School (Age 3-5 Grade)
Messiah offers Sunday School for ages three years through fifth grade. We use a lectionary-based curriculum for younger students so they study the same lessons used during worship services. There is a strong emphasis on crafts, music, Bible usage and prayer.

Three year olds through Kindergarden students study the "more classic" Bible stories, i.e. "Jonah and the Whale","Noah's Ark","Feeding of the 5000" to mention a few. Hands on activities and music are important to their spiritual nurturing.

This Fall (2009) we are excited to begin our sessions at 10:00 a.m. with Children's Chapel prior to being dimissed to classrooms/ learning centers.
Children participate in a variety of fun and memorable learning experiences that help them understand one important Bible point each week. As each activity unfolds, children discover and internalize Bible stories and biblical truths. They may do a craft, drama, music, games, or computer learning. Because they’re doing instead of just listening, children remember what they learn.
Bible Blitz is for all kindergarten-3rd graders and meets on Wednesdays from 6:15-6:55 beginning October 27.
Grapple (Middle School)

Come “grapple” with us as we dive into the Bible to get answers to your biggest questions about God, others, faith, the Bible and your own life. Face tough questions such as “What makes Jesus so cool?” and “Why are Christians so fake?” Come for hang time, games, video clips, small and large group discussions and a prayer and dare for the week. Then, continue grappling online throughout the week at Messiah’s private and secure site at www.mygrapple.com. Grapple meets Sunday mornings at 10:00 a.m. in the Youth Room. A breakfast snack is served.
Confirmation
Confirmation begins in the fall of a student’s seventh grade year. Middle school students enjoy three years of Wednesday night fellowship and study. Wednesday events include Theme Events with a Biblical teaching and small group discussion, Fellowship and Servant events. Confirmation culminates with a mentor program and Faith in Life learning and interactive sessions before students affirm their faith on Reformation Sunday of their tenth grade year.
Faith in Life (10th Grade)

Faith in Life is the climactic finish to a students Confirmation experience during the fall of their tenth grade year. Explore faith at a birth center, NDSU Lutheran Campus Center, nursing home and funeral home. This program is designed to bridge the “gap” between learning about faith in Confirmation to living faith in daily life beyond Confirmation.
Faith in Life meets on Sunday evenings from 6:45-8:00 p.m. in September and October.
Kidz Club is a high-energy after school program for 3-6th grade youth. Enjoy an after school snack, games, crafts and a short devotion.
Kidz Club meets on Wednesdays from 3:30-5:30 p.m. in the Activity Room and Youth Room.
Fellowship in Senior High

FISH (Fellowship in Senior High) is designed with the senior high youth in mind. Enjoy, ice cream, nachos and a brand new coffee bar while we discuss real and relevant issues to YOU! We will talk about whatever you want to discuss.
FISH meets on the 1st and 3rd Wednesday nights of every month from 8:30-9:15 p.m.

The mission of Messiah Youth Ministry is to create a safe place for youth to grow spirituality, build relationships and fulfill their purpose by honoring God and serving others.

Are you in 4-5th grade? Middle School? High School? We have something for you! Join us for Carol Choir, Faith Builders, Confirmation, Grapple or FISH! We offer regular events such as lock ins, retreats and service projects which include vibrant discussion, friends and fellowship.
